The removal of the textpattern plugin causes a 500 error when loading the page/post edit window. Page content and formatting buttons are also not displayed in the visual editor (though content can still be edited in text mode). When I replace the /wp-content/plugins/tinymce-advanced/mce/textpattern/ folder, the error disappears and the edit window loads as expected.

The error appears below:
GET https://MYDOMAIN.EDU/wp-content/plugins/tinymce-advanced/mce/textpattern/plugin.min.js?wp-mce-4203-20150730 500 (Internal Server Error)

This should be HTTP error 404 not 500 but is my bad nevertheless. Update coming in an hour or so.

To fix it in the meantime, go to the settings page and re-save your settings. That will stop trying to load the textpattern plugin.

500 - Internal server error. no access to main panel. I added 2 plug-ins then upgraded to 4.3 without backing up my work. (new to this, not a programmer)

http://www.solarackusa.com/

I downloaded FileZilla, tried logging in and get this error:

Status: TLS connection established.
Command: USER ingrid
Response: 331 Password required
Command: PASS *********
Response: 530 User cannot log in.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

Please advise what to do.

no access to main panel

You sort of need access to your backend (FTP) in order to fix the issue. Once you get access then you can do the following.

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don't have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme for your version of WordPress to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don't have access to your admin panel, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it's possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via FTP or SFTP and rename the .htaccess file. If you can't find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your FTP or SFTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we'll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

How do I gain access to this?

You need to log into your cpanel or host login and then access your file manager. Which host are you using?

That's the issue I'm having. is there any other way I can try to access the admin page.

FYI: the top dash (wordpress) on the site is still visible.

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. When you said, "no access to main panel", I thought you meant no access to your cpanel file manager. But no, you do not need access to your WordPress websites admin login. The only thing you need at the moment is your hosting login so that you can access your file manager. Try manually resetting your plugins

If you have a webmaster then contact him and get him to fix the error. You NEED access to your FTP/host login in order to access the file manager, and you need the file manager in order to fix the issue.

I see. I've tried contacting him and he's not available. its the reason I thought I'd give it a try.

I have my log in. I'm just not understanding how to access FTP

Ok, you obviously don't understand what I am taking about. In your WordPress website there are in a way two logins. One is your admin login which you can access by going to the /wp-admin in your website. The other login is your hosting login. This is where you renew your website hosting and domain name. In this login (which you can access on the GoDaddy website) you can also access you file manager. The file manager includes all the PHP, CSS, HTML, etc. files that make up your website. In here is where you need to navigate through some folders to fix the problem.

So in the case of this error you main wp-admin login on your website is no working because your website is experiencing an error. But you can still access your hosting login. So you NEED so get this hosting login information or you NEED to contact your webmaster in order to get the error fixed.
